Lune

To dream of seeing the moon with the aspect of the heavens remaining normal, prognosticates success in love and business affairs.

A weird and uncanny moon, denotes unpropitious lovemaking, domestic infelicities and disappointing enterprises of a business character.

The moon in eclipse, denotes that contagion will ravage your community.

To see the new moon, denotes an increase in wealth and congenial partners in marriage.

For a young woman to dream that she appeals to the moon to know her fate, denotes that she will soon be rewarded with marriage to the one of her choice. If she sees two moons, she will lose her lover by being mercenary. If she sees the moon grow dim, she will let the supreme happiness of her life slip for want of womanly tact.

To see a blood red moon, indicates war and strife, and she will see her lover march away in defence of his country.

Moon · Heading 481; source line 3233 · Text transcription

To dream of a sharp new moon with horns pointing upwards is a sign you will be rich: if the horns point sideways or downward, it foretells poverty: seeing a full moon in your dream denotes a thrifty and happy marriage: a half moon shadows forth the loss of a wife or husband by death or desertion. Dreaming of seeing a half moon is fatal to the prospects of lovers.

Of the Moone. · Book 2, encoded section 96 · Text transcription

THe Moon is the Wife, Nurse, daughter, or Sister, of him which dreames thereof, and signifies money, riches▪ Merchandise and trafficke: also Navigation, the eyes of him which dreames, and the Master, or Mistresse. And therefore, if the Moon turn her selfe into good, and joy, it is good and honour, by those whom it represents, and on the contrary. To see himselfe in the Moon, is the son of the man, the daughter, of the woman that dreames it: this dream also is good for exchangers, usurers, and takers of receit for Uictuals. Also it is good for those which would shew themselves, and appeare, but it discloseth the hidden, and puts sicke men and Marriners in danger of theyr lives, what good or evill the Sun signifieth, the same signification hath the Moone also: but lesse or more to the woman, then to the man.

A brilliant moon prognosticates: to a wife, love and good health; to a husband, increase in wealth. New moon: advancement in business; waning, death of a great man; a halo around the moon denotes pardon and deliverance through a female; a red moon, voyages, pilgrimages; dull moon, death or illness to wife, sister or female relative; perilous journeyings, especially by sea, brain fever, eye trouble. An obscure moon becoming bright, profit to a woman, joy to a man. From clearness to obscurity, loss, sadness, misfortune to men and women. Two moons denote increase in rank and dignity; when a beautiful woman dreams of the moon, the dream forecasts high standing, dignity and admiration. To thieves, murderers, etc., it denotes justice; to invalids danger of death or shipwreck. For a young girl or widow to dream of a full, dazzling moon, the prognostication is marriage; to a married woman, the birth of a beautiful daughter; to a man the birth of a son. A happy dream to jewelers, goldsmiths, etc. (National Dream Book). Most of these presages, it will be observed, are astrological.
